What is FUE hair transplantation?

The procedure involves significantly less pain compared to traditional hair transplant methods, where grafts were collected by cutting entire strips of skin from the scalp area. After the procedure, there is no long scar on the scalp area as with traditional hair transplants. Also, the recovery time has been shortened thanks to the new method.
In FUE hair transplantation, a special harvesting tool is used to extract the follicles one by one. The method requires much more skill from the operating physician compared to the traditional hair transplant method.
Is this method right for me?
If you’re considering hair transplantation, it’s worth considering FUE hair transplantation. The method is particularly suitable for people who prefer to keep their hair short. The scar left between short hairs by traditional surgery may be visible, but after FUE transplantation, only small holes remain in the donor area. These holes are not noticeable even with short hair.
However, patients should be aware that before the FUE procedure, the hair is shaved from the back and sides. If your hair is long, the traditional method may be more sensible than the FUE method.
If you are under 25 years old, it may be wise to wait a while. Balding processes are usually just beginning in those under 25. Therefore, determining the final hairline can be difficult. There are exceptions. Sometimes the result of hair loss can be seen as early as age 20. If balding has progressed significantly, hair transplantation can be performed even if you are under 25 years old.
How do I prepare for a hair transplant?
After the consultation with the plastic surgeon, you are usually fully prepared for the procedure. The surgeon may advise you to cut your hair a few days before the procedure. The area from which the grafts are harvested is shaved very short. In some cases, hair shaving can also be done at the clinic just before the procedure.
Before the procedure, it’s good to arrange everything in advance for a short recovery period. If you need a sick leave, it’s advisable to arrange it in advance. Also, the return home should be arranged beforehand. You cannot drive on the day of the procedure.
What is the recovery time like?
After the hair transplant, it’s important to take good care of your hair, but there isn’t any specific recovery time associated with this procedure. Some slight discomfort is possible. You can usually return to your normal routine within 2-3 days. However, it’s advisable to take a short break from certain activities, such as swimming.
Your doctor will provide you with detailed instructions for ongoing hair care. Following these instructions is crucial as it affects the final outcome.
The body recovers quickly from a hair transplant. However, many patients take a few days off from work and social life so that the shaved hair grows back a bit, and the procedure isn’t obvious to everyone around. The donor area typically looks normal around 10 days after the procedure if the hair was short.
What kind of results can be expected?
When done correctly, hair transplants yield natural-looking results. The transplanted hair should settle naturally into the recipient area, and the hairline should also appear untreated. The procedure requires meticulous attention to detail and the ability to focus. The final outcome depends heavily on the skills of the operating physician, their sense of symmetry, and their visual abilities.
Hair transplantation requires slightly different skills from the surgeon compared to other procedures. Performing the procedure is precise work, and the results are visible to everyone around throughout. Look for a plastic surgeon whose aesthetic instinct you can trust.

Perustietoa
Hiukset ovat tärkeä osa ulkonäköämme.
Hiusten normaali elinkaari jakautuu kolmeen vaiheeseen. Ensimmäinen vaihe on nimetty anageeniseksi vaiheeksi (anagen – kasvu), joka on kestoltaan 2–6 vuotta.
Seuraava vaihe on niin sanottu kategeeninen vaihe (catagen – ei-kasvu), ja sen kesto on 2–6 viikkoa. Katageenisen vaiheen aikana hius alkaa irrota follikkelista.
Viimeinen vaihe on telogeenivaihe (telogen – menetys), joka kestää 3–4 kuukautta. Telogeenivaiheen aikana hius työntyy pois juurialueelta uuden anageenisen hiuksen tieltä. Uusi hius alkaa kasvaa jälleen.
Hiusten kasvu ja hiusten muodostuminen tapahtuvat suojaisessa, ihon sisällä olevassa kuoressa, jonka nimi on follikkeli. Keskivertoihmisellä on noin 100 000 hiusta. Tämä luku voi vaihdella riippuen ihon väristä ja rakenteesta. Jokaisessa follikkelissa kasvaa yhdestä neljään hiusta. Tämä viimeisin löydös auttoi uuden hiustensiirtotekniikan kehittymisessä. Uuden hiustensiirtotekniikan nimi on Follicular Hair Regrowth (F.H.R.).
Hiustenlähtö ja kaljuuntuminen
Ihminen menettää keskimäärin 100–150 hiusta vuorokaudessa. Yleensä suurin osa hiuksista kasvaa takaisin terveissä ja ehjissä follikkeleissä. Joskus hiustenlähtö voi kuitenkin kiihtyä.
Kaljuuntuminen ja hiustenlähtö voivat johtua monista seikoista:
- hiuspohjan bakteerit
- stressi
- heikko ravitsemus
- perintötekijät eli geenit (sekä miehillä että naisilla)
- hormonaalinen epätasapaino
Monissa tapauksissa samalla henkilöllä on useita syitä hiustenlähtöön. Tutkimusten perusteella voidaan todeta, että hiustenlähdön dominoivin syy on perinnöllinen. 95 prosentissa tapauksista hiustenlähdön aiheuttajana ovat geenit. Tämä pätee sekä miehiin että naisiin.
Hiustensiirto
Hiustenlähtöongelmaan on olemassa moderneja ratkaisuja.
Hiustensiirto follikkelisiirtotekniikalla on maailman uusin ja kehittynein hiustensiirtotoimenpide. Toimenpide jättää vanhat mikrosiirremenetelmät historiaan. Uusi follikkelisiirtomenetelmä vaatii kahden lääkärin ja kahdeksan sairaanhoitajan tiimin.
Follikkelisiirteet jaetaan aina mikroskooppien avulla. Uudella tekniikalla vältetään follikkelien tuhoutuminen ja saadaan noin 30 % enemmän hiussiirteitä samasta hiusten luovutusalueesta verrattuna vanhaan tekniikkaan.
Uusi, kehittyneempi hiustensiirtomenetelmä on lähes kivuton. Potilas voi olla istuma-asennossa, kuunnella musiikkia, katsoa TV:tä ja myös syödä toimenpiteen aikana. Toimenpide kestää 4–6 tuntia. Siteiden laitto toimenpiteen jälkeen ei ole tarpeellista, Lähtiessään potilas näyttää samanlaiselta kuin tullessaan klinikalle. Hiusten uudelleenkasvu huomataan 16 viikon kuluttua.
Hiustenlähdön hoitomuodot
Hiustenlähtöä hoidetaan Cityklinikalla neljällä tavalla, jotka ovat seuraavat:
- hiustensiirtoleikkaus
- Biofibre®-hiusimplantti
- hiuspohjan PRP-plasmahoidot
- injektiohoidot
Ei-kirurgiset injektiohoidot — prp-hoito ja mesoterapiahoidot — tehoavat hiustenlähtöön. Niiden avulla ei voida käynnistää hiustenkasvua kaljuuntuneilla alueilla.
Mikäli hiustenlähtö on kiihtynyt tai hiuspohja on jo osittain kaljuuntunut, parhaita tuloksia saadaan hiusimplantilla tai hiustensiirtoleikkauksella.
Hiustensiirtoleikkauksen kulku
Cityklinikan hiustensiirrot tehdään nykyaikaisella FUE-tekniikalla. Toimenpide on kivuton, toipuminen nopeaa eikä pään ihoon jää häiritseviä arpia.
Ennen leikkauspäivää
Ennen toimenpidettä järjestämme sinulle konsultaatiokäynnin, jonka aikana keskustelemme odotuksistasi ja toiveistasi. Samalla tutkimme hiustesi nykyisen tilan ja laadun sekä yleisen terveydentilasi. Konsultaatiokäynnin aikana kerromme toimenpiteen kulusta, vastaamme kysymyksiisi ja sovimme ajankohdan toimenpiteelle.
Toimenpiteeseen on hyvä valmistautua pitämällä huolta fyysisestä kunnosta. Mikäli tupakoit, sinun kannattaa pitää tupakointitaukoa toimenpiteen molemmin puolin. Lopputuloksen ja toipumisen kannalta on optimaalista, jos tupakointia vältetään ainakin neljä viikkoa ennen hiustensiirtoa ja neljä viikkoa toimenpiteen jälkeen. Ennen toimenpidettä kannattaa myös järjestää kuljetus leikkauspäivää varten. Leikkauksen yhteydessä annettava lääkitys estää autoilun leikkauspäivänä.
Toimenpiteestä kannattaa ottaa etukäteen selvää niin paljon kuin mahdollista.
Leikkauspäivänä
Kun saavut Cityklinikalle, käymme aluksi läpi, mitä on tulossa. Piirrämme hiusrajaan “toimenpidekartan” ja keskustelemme siitä, kuinka hiussiirteet jaetaan alueelle. Tämän jälkeen istuudut mukavaan toimenpidetuoliin.
Puhdistamme pään alueen ihon. Pään takaosan hiukset leikataan hyvin lyhyiksi. Hiustensiirtotoimenpide tehdään paikallispuudutuksessa. Toimenpiteen aikana olosi on miellyttävä. Vain paikallispuudutuksen laittaminen sattuu hieman. Saat rauhoittavaa lääkettä tarpeen mukaan. Huolehdimme siitä, että olosi on koko ajan miellyttävä.
Puudutuksen ja hiusten leikkaamisen jälkeen takaraivon alueelta poimitaan hyvin pieniä, 1–4 hiuksen muodostamia hiusyksiköitä (follikkeleja l. karvatuppia) yksi yksikkö kerrallaan. Nämä yksittäiset hiusten karvatupet kerätään luovutusalueelta ilman leikkausta. Toimenpiteen tässä vaiheessa käytetään pyöreää, halkaisijaltaan 0,8-1,0 millimetrin kokoista skalpellia, jonka avulla irrotetaan karvatuppi pään iholta.
Irroitetut mikrosiirteet tutkitaan ja käsitellään mikroskoopin alla. Tämän jälkeen ne istutetaan yksi kerrallaan halutulle alueelle. Päänahkaan tehdään neulalla erittäin pieni reikä, ja välittömästi tämän jälkeen siirre asetetaan paikoilleen. Follikkelien istuttaminen on hyvin tärkeä vaihe lopputuloksen luonnollisuuden kannalta. Ammattitaitoisesti tehtäessä hiusten karvatupet eivät vahingoitu ja karvatupet saadaan istutetuksi juuri oikeaan syvyyteen ja ihanteelliseen suuntaan pään ihossa. Kun kaikki siirteet ovat paikoillaan, päänahka puhdistetaan huolellisesti. Lopputulos tutkitaan ja tarvittaessa tehdään vielä pieniä korjauksia.
Toimenpide suoritetaan päiväkirurgisesti, eli kotiutuminen tapahtuu samana päivänä.
Kantasolukäsittely
Cityklinikalla tehtäviin hiustensiirtoihin liittyy aina myös kantasolukäsittely. Kantasolukäsittelyn on huomattu vaikuttavan merkittävästi hiustensiirron lopputulokseen.Cityklinikalla hiustensiirtoihin yhdistetään aina kantasolukäsittely.

Leikkauksen jälkeen
Toimenpiteen jälkeen pään alueella saattaa olla turvotusta, varsinkin jos hiustensiirto on ollut laaja. Turvotusta voit hoitaa Arnizen-tuotteella. Mikäli turvotusta on runsaasti, on syytä levätä kotona muutaman päivän ajan. Jos turvotusta ei ole, töihin voi palata yleensä jo toimenpidettä seuraavana päivänä. Fyysistä aktiviteettia (liikunta, raskaiden tavaroiden nostaminen jne.) on kuitenkin vältettävä kolmen viikon ajan. Mikäli työsi vaatii fyysistä ponnistelua, toimenpiteen jälkeen on oltava noin viikon ajan sairauslomalla.
Rupien muodostuminen käsitellyille alueille on mahdollista ja tavanomaista. Ruvet häviävät itsestään muutaman viikon sisällä toimenpiteestä.
Kolmen vuorokauden kuluttua toimenpiteestä hiukset voi kastella vedellä. Älä kuitenkaan koske sormilla niitä alueita, joihin on laitettu siirteitä. Hiussiirteiden kiinnittyminen vie kaksi viikkoa, ja siirteiden kosketteleminen haittaa kiinnittymistä. Varsinaisen sampoopesun voi tehdä vasta kaksi viikkoa hiustensiirron jälkeen.
Kolmen viikon päästä toimenpiteestä hiustensiirteet tippuvat useimmiten pois. Tämä kuuluu normaaliin hiustensiirron jälkeiseen prosessiin, koska siirretyt follikkelit siirtyvät lepotilaan. Uudet hiukset alueelle alkavat kasvaa parin kuukauden päästä. Alustava lopputulos näkyy 6–8 kuukauden kuluttua, ja täysin valmis hiustensiirron lopputulos on noin 12–14 kuukauden kuluttua.
Koska toipumisprosessi etenee jokaisella yksilöllisesti, on tärkeää kuunnella kehonsa viestejä ja sopeutua niihin. Ensimmäisten viikkojen aikana kannattaa harrastaa rauhallisia kävelylenkkejä, ja vasta kolmen kuukauden päästä voit harrastaa kaikenlaista liikuntaa ilman rajoituksia. Auringolta suojautuminen on tärkeää.
